Associate of the Year - Crawford Drafting
This award was presented to an Associate member who has perpetuated the mission and supported the priorities of the Builders Association of Central PA by operating in such a way as to: participate in civic/community service, promote trade education/professional development, practice innovation.

Crawford Drafting met this criteria by practicing a model of business that focuses on relationship building, strategic partnerships, teaching and adhering to ethics. 

For over 2 decades, Crawford Drafting has guided the State College Area High School’s Drafting & Design Program. Chip Crawford has served as the chairman of their Industry Advisory Committee. He has instituted recognition programs within the curriculum that encourage students to display their talents and excel in the classroom. Crawford Drafting has a long-standing internship program that allows high school students to become familiar with the real world of drafting, including the interpersonal skills needed to work with project partners and please clients.  Through the years Chip has successfully balanced his for-profit and not-for-profit work. He has completed designs for many of our members including Habitat for Humanity where he worked along side a core group of businessman to create a set of plans that addressed key issues that volunteers were facing on the job site. He donated thousands of dollars in “in-kind” services to habitat which culminated in Crawford Drafting receiving their Golden Hammer award. Chip volunteers with the State College Little League, The Lemont / Houserville PTO, sits on the board of trustees at the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church and volunteers with the BACP on our Green Build and Education & Legislative Committees. It is clear to us that Chip strives to make a difference personally and professionally.

As a result of his efforts, Chip Crawford is a respected, well received member of our community and local industry and the Builders Association of Central PA is proud to have him as a member. Congratulations to Crawford Drafting on receiving the Associate Member of the Year Award for 2008-2009!
