• Home Is... Art Contest

  • Everyone has a different idea about what home is.  Is it a place, a feeling or a person?  We want to know what it means to you in our first annual Home and Garden Show “Home is…” Mixed Media Art Contest.   All artwork will be displayed in the “Home and Garden Art Gallery” during the 33rd Annual Home and Garden Show March31st through April 2nd  at the Bryce Jordan Center. 

    Basic Contest Rules (Full Rules Below)

    * This contest is open to students grades  K-12.

    * Only one entry per child.

    * Drawn, colored, sketched, painted or photographed two dimensional entries must be no larger than 18” by 18”.    

    * Three-dimensional artwork must be no larger than 16”x16”x 16”.    

    * All artwork must be the child’s original work.

  • Prizes

    Prizes will be awarded in the following age categories:

    • Grades K-4
    • Grades 5-8
    • Grades 9-12

    Awards will be presented at the Home and Garden Show on April 2nd at 1:00 PM in the “Home and Garden Art Gallery.”

  • Judging

    Artwork will be judged based on the following criteria:

    • Visual Impact
    • Originality
    • Technical Excellence
    • Interpretation and Clarity of Theme to the viewer

    Winners will be notified on Friday, March 31st.

    1. All artists must pre-register using the form below or by contacting the BACP at 814-231-8813.
    2. One entry per child.
    3. Drawn, colored, sketched, photographed or painted entries must be unframed and must be no larger than 18” x 18”.  
    4. Three-dimensional artwork must be no larger than 16”x16”x16”.  
    5. The “Home is…” registration form must be taped to the back of the entry in the lower right hand corner. 
    6. Unframed two-dimensional entries can be dropped off at the Builders Association of Central PA office March 20-22, 2017 between the hours of 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Artists may also mail their artwork by March 22, 2017 to the Builders Association of Central PA, 2149 East College Ave, State College PA 16801.
    7. Three-dimensional artwork must be dropped off at the Bryce Jordan Center, Concourse Gate B  on Thursday, March 30, 2017 between 10:00 AM-5:00 PM or on Friday, March 31, 2017 between 7:00-11:00 AM.  
    8. At the time of drop off, each child will receive two artist passes for the admissions to the 2017 Home and Garden Show.  These passes are valid for the artist and his/her parent or guardian. * If artwork is mailed in, each participant will receive an email with two artist passes for the home show.
    9. Artists may pick up their artwork between 10:00 AM-3:00 PM on Sunday, April 2nd.  *All unclaimed artwork will become the property of the Builders Association of Central PA.
